Frankie is a short film about a teenage boy from a disadvantaged area of Dublin dealing with soon becoming a father. An important scene shows him staring at a stolen box of melting icecream he is about to bin. It's used a metaphor to the wasted opportunity that comes from being trapped in a cycle of poverty, crime and broken families. From this i overlayed photography of urban environments with images of melting cream to convey a sense of being trapped and helpless. The inside cover showed classrooms and playgrounds which relates to the sense of losing innocence when you have the responsibility of parenthood thrust upon you at such an early age.
